Qualitative Survey

From this survey of people from our target audience, I learnt that most of the horror films that these people enjoyed horror films that have the sub genre of paranormal such as Scream and The Conjuring. This coincides with the responses to our questionnaire as this was the most popular sub genre of horror.
Unpredictability, is an element of a horror film that was mentioned more than once in this video, however, it is said in this interview that horror movies can be cliche and predictable, therefore in order to keep the audience engaged, a horror film must have an unpredictable narrative.

'More and more is unravelled about the plot, which is what I like' was said by one of the students and we are going to apply this to our opening with not much of the narrative being revealed in the opening scene.
Also, the horror films that they have mentioned are rated a 15, which is what we are certifying our film. This shows how the most successful and well known horror films are certified at this and therefore we are making our opening at a 15.

They also said the key to a successful horror film, is to have money, CGI, a famous actor and money. Due to limitations and accessibility, we do not have access to famous actors or advanced CGI, however, we made sure we had a strong narrative and made improvements till we was happy with it.

This research helped to establish elements of what our target audience wants from a horror film and what they enjoy.
